Carb rebuild

Well she is finally up and running again.  My question is I have come to 
the realization that I need to rebuild my SU Carbs. Is this something 
that I should or can do myself or is it something best left the pros. 
Since I am rebuilding the carbs are there any good modification that can 
be done to carbs to get some more horse power.

ps I have had some experience rebuilding Strombergs
