Paul,
Painted for the TR 250, bare STAINLESS STEEL on the 4/4a.
The original paint never stuck well to the stainless steel, and soon
began chipping off on a lot of cars. Many owners then "helped"
by chipping off the remaining paint on the strips. I used etching
primer (Variprime, from Dupont) on mine so the won't chip, but
I haven't finished the resto yet, so I don't know if it'll help.
