John,
Yes, helicoils will work, but something called "keenserts" work much better
and are easier to install. I have gained experience with these after nearly
rolling my TR250 at the 1997 VTR in Ft. Worth, Texas.
Also, I'm in the Aerospace business and these Keenserts are a industry
standard. If you need more information, write me.
