Since Leon and others had already tried that trick with no success, I assumed
(you know what they say about assumptions!) that the latch itself was jammed.
Especially since the upper portion of the assembly had worked itself loose
once already. I thought I would have to remove the latch mechanism to free the
hood, and even brought along a stubby wrench to work in the close quarters.
Actually, now that I've done it, I kinda like it. It looks remarkedly like
something from the factory. Now, no matter where the jam occurs in the future,
I can easily get to it to fix it.
