I recently purchased a set of .7" bore rear wheel cylinders for my
1965 TR4A from a well-known Southern California British car parts
supplier at their advertised special sales price. Although the
cylinders were shipped in a Lockheed package, it was not immediately
clear who the manufacturer was--they did not look OEM Girling.

Both cylinders were professionally installed by someone with almost
30 years of servicing and racing Triumphs. Within a week, the passenger
side cylinder failed suddenly to the point of complete fluid and brake
loss.

A post-mortem (fortunately, not of the driver) revealed that the piston
seal had been improperly installed and was partially bent double during
factory assembly.

Has anyone out there experienced a similar problem? If not, be
cautious... of non Girling cylinders!
