Paint Advice Needed

My Carmine 74 TR6 is in need of a paint job after several attempts at
rubbing out the paint to get rid of the oxidation, I am now down to
primer in some spots.  What's left is original paint.

Does anyone have any advice, do's and don'ts, on repainting?  My body
guys suggests that since there is some cracking in the paint, that it be
chemically stripped before painting.  Your thoughts would be
appreciated.
