Try living in Canada, where our $1.00 gets us 65 c worth of parts from US
suppliers. :-(

However, I choose my hobbies, and accept the costs, especially when I want
some part that one of the suppliers has undertaken to produce or secure
specifically for my car model.  

When I can use generic parts (oil filters, etc.), I do so.
