Easy Gerard,either buy her a hat or let her sit under the tonneau,works 
for me!!

Sorry couldn't resist.

Assuming the part is the correct one for your car I can only suggest you 
leave the hood up
for a while and see if it flattens out ,if not send it back and 
complain,after all it's not doing
the job.
