JonMac: read your note about the 60's girls, Gretchen and company. A few
years back an old friend of mine (Hugh Brown) passed away. Just before he
succumbed to heart failure after a number of heart operations and the like, he
delivered a package of old '60s literature to me. Hugh had been brought over
to Canada in the 50's by Morris and then worked with BMC, then Comstock racing,
then Dan Blocker Racing and then back to BL as they were winding down
operations here in Canada. We spent many hours talking LBC's and racing. The
small bag he delivered contained a number of '60s BMC company newsletters and
the like which had been sent to dealers. Like the book you were describing,
they are liberally sprinkled with pretty girls (?), models and spokeswomen.
Many were in issue after issue and were often company employees I understand.
You would never see these types of ads or company newsletters today...but they
sure are fun aren't they?
