Hi Folks,
Many thanks to those who responded to the "diff. leak" story. As you may
recall, this started out as a leak and ended up with the diff locking up
(fortunately, at very low speed down the driveway).
Anyway, I located a used axle and had the "local" LBC shop put in in for
me. I just got the TR back on Saturday and everything is now lovely.
Special thanks to Randall who typed up instructions on how to go about
changing a rear axle. I could hardly lift the axle up so I thought I
would let someone else do it.
Anyhows, the guy who sold me the axle gave a tip on re-installing:
Apparently, there comes a time when you have to compress the leaf springs
in order to make things fit (not sure what he was on about but....) anyway,
he suggested draping some chain over the chasis and suspending a small
floor jack with the chain. Then you just pump up the jack to compress the
springs. Hope that makes sense. Don't ask me to elaborate because that's
it.

Regards, Adrian
