Chip, you had quoted a number "76470 FG" on the "commission plate" of your 
Spitfire in regard to paint code. That number sounds suspiciously like a Body 
Number to me. Does your car have a Commission number plate on the "B" post of 
the driver's side door? That (should be) painted plate on the LH side of the 
bulkhead with that 76470 FG number is the Body Number plate and is directly 
below where the Commission Number plates went through the 1969 "Federal" 
Spitfires. on the 1970s, that commission plate was moved to the "B" post. 
That plate would show the "32" (Signal Red) Paint code.

If you DON'T have a Commission number plate, do you at least have the 
supplementary Commission number tag on the windshield post (again, driver's 
side)?
