I can think of only two alternatives to I91:
Drive up through NY (I87) and cross over to VT at the Ticonderoga ferry.
Go up I93 to I89 in Concord NH and on to Stowe. This is a reasonably direct
route and I'd recommend it-- on any weekend but the next! There will be a
Winston Cup race in Loudon and the "Scottish Games" are on in Lincoln, so I93
will be a parking lot.
