Back from Stowe. (sorry Bob I still went) Drove up Friday in the storm
with Mom's '57 TR-3 on the trailer behind the motorhome and my brother
driving his '62 TR-4. Very interesting three hour drive but we made it.
We drove to the show field to register but the convergence of two fronts
had flattened all the tents that had been set up on Thursday,
port-a-pottys were all laying on thier backs like giant dominoes.
Saturday morning we found out the show was being moved to a ski area up
the road. (smugglers notch I think) A beautiful setting with a dizzying
view up the show lot and up the side of the mountain. Show field was a
large TAR parking lot. Very nice place to have the show not a cow patty
in site. Land Rovers had the muddy cow pasture all to themselves, and a
shuttle was run between the two shows.
Most of the show was reasonably organised despite the challenge of
moving everything, but in parking the Triumph classes the cars got
jumbled so rather than tr-6's up here and tr-3's over there and tr-4s
way over there someplace we were all in the same place all mixed up.
(the spitfire people must be more talented with parking in the right
place) It was rather neat actually but made voting a bit of a chore.
All in all it was still a great show with probably 4 to 500 cars, many
of them from Canada, and lots of people. Plus great weather starting
Saturday morning.
I expext they will get many suggestions to use this lot in the future.
