Uh, right. A V4 did more or less replace the 3 cylinder engine in the Saab
96's and related cars. But that was a German Ford engine. The Stag V8,
however, is closely related to the inline 4 ultimately used in the TR7 and
Dolomites and the early Saab 99s. Later 99s had Saab-built-and-refined
versions of that "slant-4" engine. I believe the original question focused
around THAT engine.

Clear as mud? ;-)
