GT6+ Steering wheel shake?

When I negotiate a bumpy road, I get a lot of movement in the wheel. The
rack seems very tight, and there seems to be no looseness anywhere other
than the column. Is this common to the car? My center dash support is
currently out, and I know it does give structural support to the cowl, but
could it be  enough to cause the major transference of shock I'm getting
now?
