Yes, I'll agree with that...

Nooooooo...... Don't do it!!! Having owned 27 Heralds, I have NEVER found a
drain plug which I could remove without tearing the drain tube out of the
tank. Dan, if yours came out OK, you were very lucky (or you have a new tank
fitted!). Agreed, it would make the tank slightly easier to remove, but the
risk of tearing the bottom out of the tank is just too great to be worth the
risk. Incidentally, the smaller tank of the earlier cars is no easier to
remove......
