List,

Well the blind hog found an acorn. Here I pull up to this guy's house
to look at a tub for my TR4A project and there it sits, a rolling
chassis with the tub sitting on it. Tub turns out to be great, a little
rust on the passenger floor pan but all inner and outer rockers are
solid (even the cookies), and everything else too (all fenders are
straight and solid), including the frame (better than the one I WAS
going to use). The engine has new liners, pistons, and bearings put in
recently by a local engine builder so it's almost rebuilt. Every other
part possible was in boxes in the guy's garage. It turns out the car
had been like this for 20+ years as a previous owner had pulled it apart
labled everything and put it in boxes but then sold it when he lost
interest. The present owner had it for 20 years and had moved it (in
boxes) twice to South Dakota and back but finally decided he wasn't
going to do it as his project either.

Short story is that I got a WHOLE TR4A instead of just the tub and
here's the acorn part. It was the rolling chassis was sitting on four
American Racing Equipment silverstone eight spoke magnesium wheels (just
like the ones I was drooling over back in November if you remember my
post about the wheels on the TR3 on the Moss catalog cover) that are in
excellant shape. And to top it off when I opened up one of the many
boxes I carted home yesterday there were the four original NOKOF
spinners, three (one had a broken tip) in very nice shape. Anyone have
one leftside spinner in decent shape they want to sell??

So even though the snow is coming down heavy in Denver I'm reveling in
my good fortune and enjoying finding an acorn (it's the horn of plenty
for me).
