Hey Dave,
I have the same sand blasting set up. FWIW- it is not all that good,
but it can work. I use a battery operated children's toy that looks like a
knobby ball that has an unbalanced gimbled weight in the middle to be a
vibrator to keep the media flowing. (The toy was supposed to vibrate and
walk itself around the floor). I rigged the sand hopper at an angle to put
the hopper discharge at the bottom. I keep the media transport hose as
straight and short as possible. I hang the sand hopper directly above the
job. I get the blasting media for free from work.
Since rigging this, I have found that at my company we have piped
compressed air that provides 800 cfm at 120 psi. I could sandblast the rust
off of the Titanic with this rig.
