Brief follow up to my question from the other day - further investigation has
revealed:
The pushrod tubes on my 3a head, and so I assume the rest of 2-4a, measure
11/16"
o.d. To get stainless steel tubing in this diameter would be a special order,
and hence prohibitively expensive, I am told (you get to buy it in 20 foot
lengths
too).
However! it is "standardly" available in 3/4" with a thick enough wall, so it
could be turned down and cut into lengths on a lathe.
Another job for the machinist perhaps, but it will have to wait till after this
vacation season.
I'll keep you posted,
Regards,
Jim
PS I got one pushed out of the head and there are no O-rings; it is just a
friction
fit. And the guy at the "headshop" said "If I didn't know better I'd swear that
was off a Ferguson tractor!"
