Greetings, during my winter rehab on a 1970 Spitfire, I sent the brake
master cylinder out to Apple Hydraulics to be sleeved. They usually
sleeve them with brass, I believe, as mine was. This was a double line
brake system (as is my TR6) so the cylinder was stepped and therefore
has to have two bores and two sleeves. The cost was $90, which I
consider money well spent, knowing that there's a good chance it won't
leak anymore. Any moisture entering the brake system most likely will
have little effect on the brass compared to the cheap pot metal used in
the original cylinder. Especially when a new m/c costs upwards of  $300,
(almost $400 for the Spitfire)I think it makes sense to sleeve a used
one, rebuild the internals, and know it will last. BTW, Apple Hydraulics
did a good job with a quick turnaround time (1 week I believe).NFI, etc.

This is just my own personal experience, YMMV............
Have a nice day,       unless you've made other plans
