Paul,

You might want to consider two things:

1. Valves need to be readjusted.

2. Has the cylinder head been milled? If so, and the internal components
were not shortened to compensate for the lower height, the rockers might be
tapping on the valve cover. We found this out when the fire baffle plate was
broken off of the valve cover on our TR6. The PO milled the head but used
the original rods and used spacers under the rocker-arm pedestals. They
never hit the valve cover hard, but it was enough to puzzle us for quite a
while, and eventually break the welds holding the baffle in place (ending
the mystery!)
