Joe,
>From a truely agrarian standpoint I'll add this to what has been said about
using old liners. It true with old tractors and it's true with our cars.
Many owners don't keep up with the coolant, or run straight water. Liners
rust and eventually pinhole from the outside in. My experience, with 8 86 MM
liners bought from someone I won't mention, is that all looked great until
they were opened up to 87MM and litttle tracks of rust quickly showed up.
Very expensive mistake. Obviously, liners taken from a running engine would
be the safest approach.
