Ed,

If you hold the buffing compound against the spinning wheel long enough, the
friction will heat the compound and it will begin to transfer to the buffing
wheel with no trouble.  Remember also that buffing compound is like Bryll
Cream -- a little dab'll do ya.  Apply more as needed.
