My guess is that the radiator shroud (fiberboard deflectors) or the lack
thereof was the culprit.

I have been having a problem with my TR3 running hot at highway speeds (over
60 or 65mph). No real problems around town. I installed an electric fan in
front of the radiator, replaced thermostat, hoses, etc. It still ran hot
(hotter as speed increased). Last week I installed the fiberboard
deflectors
that channel the air from the grill to the radiator, replaced the thermostat
again (165 degree) and removed the front license plate (located center of
the
front bumper, hanging down below the bumper). It seems to have worked! The
temp maxed out at 185 after an hour at about 70-75mph.
