Making good progress on engine rebuild for ts42099L.
To date, head has been reconditioned (with a crack
fixed), block has been cleaned up with rear seal
conversion installed and most goodies are purchased
(87mm piston/liner set, bearings, etc). Engine is now
on stand and is being reassembled. Questions:

Thrust washer set (std size) came with 12 washers, but
the engine only needs 4,correct? (2 on each side of
centre main bearing housing). These washers are nice
and shiny metallic grey on one side and copper
colored, with two channels inset on the other. They
are positioned such that the channels are facing away
from the center main bearing housing, correct?

What the opinion on using a dressing for the head
gasket? My only other experience with engine
rebuilding is the 1275cc engine of the MG Midget and I
used a spray-on copper dressing for that head gasket.
Is it a good idea to do this?

I've been watching the thread with interest on exactly
what it takes to start up the TR3 engine. Hopefully I
will be able to run the engine in within the next
couple months. That will be a fairly monumental step,
and I suspect you will be hearing more from me between
now and then!

Thanks,

Richard Jr
