I don't doubt that works fine.  But, the new bushings will slip easily over
a new shaft.  Apparently Joe Curto's setup crushes the bushing a little as
it's pressed into place, which means reaming is required.  If you bore to
25/64 (or drill to 3/8" with a drill that cuts a bit oversize, as mine
does), and align properly, reaming is not required.  However, the bushes
won't necessarily be snug in the housing, so a little Loctite may be a
necessity.

If you have the tools, Joe's method is probably superior.  But the method
that FT, I and others have outlined _will_ work.
