Haven't tried this one yet, as I am using my firewall for ventilation,
however I would expect that if they are plastic/rubbery and you drop them in
boiling water for a minute or two, they might soften up enough.

Subject: TR6 Throttle Shaft

I removed my TR6 throttle shaft today in order to replace the bushings where
the shaft exits and enters the firewall and unfortunately I am having great
difficulty in getting the replacement bushings into the holes in the
firewall.
The replacement bushings are semi-rigid (from Moss) and although they will
bend somewhat I cannot seem to press (or beat) them into place. Has anyone
else experienced this? Any hot tips for getting these bushings pressed into
place would be appreciated.
