Many thanks to all of you who replied to my question on TR4 voltage
regulators (control boxes), especially Andy and Don.
Armed with the collective knowledge of the list (specifically that the
Spridgets also used the same regulator as a TR4) I went to my local MG parts
house and bought one for considerably less than the price at TR specialist
parts suppliers. Wired it up and it is working perfectly.
Part number on the box was 37290 (old box, pre-updated numbers).
BTW FWIW the Lucas catalogue I gave a link to is incorrect in that the
(early) MGB GT does not supercede to the same part no regulator as the TR4
does (also the catalogue seems to claim that the MGB GT was built from
62-78!!!)
