Didn't Jonmac write of a car being delivered that was found to have
wires on
one side, discs on the other, and two of each in the boot ?

I did indeed. It was a Spitfire - and to my amazement, a few weeks
ago, I met the owner who had hit me when I laughed at the comical
sight of a dual wheeled car. A most amusing man, we had a truly
outstanding lunch together (what little I remember of it, though this
time and as a pedestrian I didn't knock a man off his bike.)
The incident of physical assault occurred in 1973 and after the dealer
sorted out the wheel dilemma, the car went on for ten hard years of
more than spirited driving until it failed it's MoT ticket big time -
and went to the big scrapyard in the sky.
