Anyone having any problems with heat should also check that the heat door
is opening all the way, the heater valve is in the fully opened position
and that the two speed switch is actually working correctly. I was
surprised how quickly my valve vomited the contents of the cooling system
when it failed so I replaced it with a ball check valve setup which I
think was recommended by Dick Taylor. For what it's worth, I think this
arrangement increased the flow through the core and the heat is excellent
now. Lastly, I have flushed the heater core of other vehicles with
engine flushing products and a garden hose connected to the hot water
heater in the cellar with excellent results. Flush in both directions.
It's amazing how much crap will escape from the core.

Good luck,
