Hi all,

First up: Axle Ring and Pinion gears.

Can I take the ring and pinion gear out of a TR-6 rear end and put it in a TR-4
rear end?

I took a busted ring gear off a carrier last night. Those bolts were on there
pretty tight! Plain old wrenches wasn't doing the trick. I had to resort to a
socket with 1/2" drive. What's the goo on the bolts that is acting as a thread
locker? Did they have loctite 35 years ago?

Secondly, TR4 Stromberg Carbs:

I did a little TR4 stromberg swapping, and minor rebuilding . . . or at least
swapping parts from one set of carbs to another. The car runs much better. I
enjoyed driving it around this weekend. However to get the carbs in tune, I
had to put vastly different settings on them. I used the color tune (nice
little tool by the way) and had to lower the jet on the front car MUCH farther
than the rear to get the mixture right.

Any ideas what could cause this?
I thought I bent the tabs on the floats so they were both at the .73" spec.
Would it matter if there were different sized aluminum sealing washers under
the grosse jet valves?

The other thing that occured to me was that perhaps in my part swapping . . . I
put a needle with a jet that it wasn't meant for. Is the jet a standard size,
or are there needle / jet pairs?

More questions to follow.

Thanks in advance
