Lacking a hand crank, and living in one of the Plains states, I push-started
my TR3A by myself more than once. Usually, I would start by putting it in
4th, key on, and push it a few feet to suck some fuel/air into the
cylinders. Then take it out of gear, get it rolling as fast as I could, hop
in while the car was still rolling, drop it in 2nd and pop the clutch. It
would usually start first try, although I remember one particularly cold
winter night when it took 4 or 5. Also had a hard time finding a area of
the parking lot without ice.
This was just one of the things that convinced me to install an alternator !
