Hi List!
I wish to thank all the people who replyied to my question in
reguard to gaskets & specificaly the Sump Pump Gasket. Replies:
1- The majorty stated that the gasket was to form an 'air tight' seal in
order to keep Oil Pressure up.
2- Many stated that gasket compound is not nessary, but if I did chose
to use some, then it was recommanded to use
       'Hyloma'.
3- One persome informed me of his father, who worked on WW II planes
uses grease as a substitute for 'gasket compound'.
4- Anothe reply stated that the purpous of most gaskests were:

"cushioning between irregular/brittle parts or as a filler"
5- ALL agreed NOT to use any compound with silcone in it.
