Okay David,
You got our attention, and we were all wondering if you were lazy or you had
lost your entire mind. I really don't think you should change the oil in
your car, because if you do, it will most likely begin leaking so bad you
will have to carry a bag of kitty litter to limit the slip hazard near your
car and a case of oil just to get back home.

As I have read on the list in responce to your e-mail, oil does not wear
out. When it is processed at the refinery, it goes through far more
aggressive environment than your engine can put it through. It is the
additives that break down and it just gets dirty. Oil alone is not
hazardous, it is the contaminates. It was lead in the oil at one time now
it is the stuff they put in the fuel to replace the lead that is bad. The
filter has a limited capacity at best but it can't remove that stuff..
Changing it often will do a lot for your engine.

There are aircraft engine manufactures that do not have an oil change
interval. They tell you to change the oil when you feel it is discoloured
or the consumption is above a specified limit. Turbine engines are really
hard on oil, but the oil they use is rather special.
