I don't know the answer to all of your questions, but here is what I have
observed. Nearly every time I have had to replace (on any vehicle) a slave
cylinder, within about two weeks I was having to rebuild the master
cylinder. Slave cylinders are fairly inexpensive to buy, but clutch masters
are extremely expensive. So it's gotten to where on every car I've had to do
this I usually replace the slave and rebuild the master all at the same
time. Besides, on a TR6, both are relatively easy jobs, do both, bleed once.
