Don't overdo it.  Mine were too long, and the top forced the frame forward,
causing there to be too little tension on the part of the top between the
front of the top frame and the top of the windshield.  The top came loose
while were out driving (hey, look, I can see daylight over the windshield!).
Luckily, the two snaps on the sides (and the two little hooks) held and the
top did not fly off at speed!

I went to a Minnesota Triumphs tech session at the home of Jim Larson, and
about four of us fitted, re-fitted and re-re-fitted the top several times to
determine the correct position for the installation of new strapping.  Well,
done, lads!  It has been perfect ever since.

This is another example of why anyone who has an old car should join the
local marque club!
