Thread-topic: Some opinions please
I've always suspected that the practice of LBC owners flashing lights at
one another as they pass on the road was more of a dare than a wave.
"I'm confident enough in my Lucas electrical system to risk an
unnecessary activation of my lights. How about you?" "Oh yea? We'll
I'll flash mine twice. Take that!" etc.

But seriously... Here are some of my observations:

*LBC*
When driving my TR4/A:
Old minis wave
New minis don't wave
Old Beetles have just recently started to wave
TR6's almost never wave
Older MGB's and A's wave
Spits wave
Most big Healys wave
All small Healys wave
Jags never wave
Old Rovers are too high up to see me so they never wave
Miatas and all other newer convertibles never wave
Most TR3's wave

When driving an MGBGT:
Some MGB's would wave but most wouldn't
GT would nearly always wave

When driving a friends '64 AH Spridget (we used to swap cars frequently
so I logged quite a few miles in this car):
It got quite a few looks and lots of questions but very few waves of
acknowledgement. Never really understood why it didn't get more.
Perhaps because it was so hard to see, I really don't know.

*Other*
When driving my track-prepped, '87 BMW 325iS:
The few other drivers that wave presumably have track experience because
the car is otherwise unremarkable.
Every clueless high school kid driving a Japanese car wants to race it.

When driving my 325iX(an all wheel drive version of the older 3-Series
BMW): other older iX owners will typically wave. I assume everyone else
thinks it is just one of the bazillion other BMW's that are on the road
in my area.

Cheers,

--Jeff
