Hugh,
I recently installed the AA best Stayfast top on my TR6 and had some of
the same issues. I contacted Karl, the owner and he told me that if I
would send my original Everflex top to the manufacturer they would
replace my top with one that was corrected. My issues were:

1. MGB 1/4 windows. I hate them.
2. Snaps came installed on inside flaps as yours and I was told
they would not be. I had snap positioning problems on the bow covers
also.
3. The strips to which you refer are to snap onto the male snaps on
the rear bulkhead when the rear window is rolled up so it won't blow
about at speed when unzipped with the top up. At least that was the
original design and intent. The strips on my top were made from plastic
window material and positioned in such a manner as to make them useless
for their intended purpose.

If you are referring to the fabric with the Velcro strips over the side
windows, mine do fit well there with the proper amount of material
across the width of the top, so I'm not sure why yours don't. That was
why I needed a new top. My original top was in excellent condition but
it had shrunk at the width so the Velcro on the top would no longer
reach and attach to the Velcro on the frame.

I was never able to get my rear window really taught even though the top
fit up nicely. I'm very sure heat will not shrink the plastic window and
may even damage it, so I wouldn't suggest that. You might want to talk
to a good professional top installer for a definitive answer on this
one. If I am wrong, please let me know.

Call Karl and let him know of your concerns. At this point I believe he
wants to provide a correct, quality product, but if we don't let him
know about the problems with the tops they won't be addressed for
others.

I am writing to report that I purchased a canvas top for my TR6 from AA
Best and have just finished installing it. I am very happy with the fit
and finish of it. There are details on it that were either missing or
had fallen off of my old beat up vinyl top. For example, there is a
little tail of canvas at the front side corner that the door closes on
to keep the side in place. And the zipper on the window is concealed on
both the inside and outside. The only thing I would recommend is this:
the snaps came installed. They piece that wraps around the rear bow is a
bit difficult to snap and the side snaps are just a tiny bit off. All in
all though, the job looks good for a first time installer..

Two questions:

1. There are little plastic strips hanging from the top of the window
near the sides. What the heck are these for?

2. The side seals don't come in contact with the window in any way. Are
they supposed to? Did I install poorly or did they design poorly?

3. OK THREE questions. Did I read somewhere that you can go over the
rear window with a hair dryer to remove little dimples?

Thanks,
Hugh Fader
