Thunderbird Race Results

I Need some backup. I said to a friend that back in the early days of the Ford 
Thunderbird, the factory sponsored Thunderbird teams never finished a race (or 
maybe they finished last). This led them to give up competition with the 
Corvette as a racecar. Does anyone have an issue of Road & Track that covered a 
race that contained a Thunderbird? I'll buy it (them). I have tried GOOGLE and 
could not find anything.
