Dear List

I write to ask for advice on converting the SU carbs on my 74 TR6 (CF22072U)
to DGV Weber carbs. Does anyone out there have experience with the
conversion?

Right now there's nothing 'wrong' with the original SU carbs other than my
TR6 is a glutton on gas, and when I'm stopped at a traffic light I'm in a
cloud of fumes ... not oil, but unburnt fuel. I do need to bear in mind that
Canadian spring and fall weather means starting the car in cool
temperatures. My thoughts are to increase both efficiency and power, and
reduce the cloud of fumes by converting to Weber carbs.

Any thoughts? Am I right that the typical Weber model for street use is the
DGV?

I've been checking about in the market, and see that the conversion kits
from companies like www.piercemanifolds.com and www.webercarburetors.com are
less expensive than the usual full-line suppliers like Moss, Victoria
British and TRF. Is there any reason why I would select one conversion kit
over another?

Lastly a technical question: my TR6 has a manual choke (complete with sticky
cable). Am I correct that the DGV conversion will also have a manual choke?

Thanks!
