Graham,
I don't remember exactly what year your spit is, but I have the hard
top on my '76, and I'd be happy to take some measurements to try and
help you out. But I am not exactly sure what you were asking for. I
think you asked how much of a gap there was between the hard top and
the windshield cap. Is that right? On my spit, there is very little
gap at all. It's a visible gap, but less than 1/16. If it would be
helpful, I can put the calipers on it and take a digital photo of the
gap. I did have to turn the attachment bolts in quite a bit, but
the top did pull itself into position nicely. When I bought my spit,
it was missing the spacers. I bought new ones from Vic Brit, as well
as new attachment bolts (all missing). At first the top didn't want
to seat on the spacers, but eventually I figured out exactly how it
was all supposed to fit together. I'm probably not going to have the
top off anytime soon, but if I do, I'll send you a picture of how
mine fits up.
