Other TR4A originality question

What was the color of the big screws that hold the front fender to the inner 
fender? These are found on the engine compartment side of the inner fenders at 
the very top.

I assume the outer fenders were painted off the car and later mounted.  If so, 
then the screws were probably not painted body color.  What finish did they 
have?
