<<The TR-6 spline end has 3 components. A dust cap, and two other pieces.>>

er Dennis. SEVEN "pieces"??

<< Inside thedust cap is a split thin metal washer,>>

Yep. NLA. (anywhere ed@justbrits.com could find!!)

<< as well as a fiber/cork washer or packing piece.>>

Cork.

<< It
is not a gasket, it serves to keep grease within the splines, by being a
close fit to the
sliding shaft. The fiber/cork washer is 1.5 inches on its outside diameter
and 1 1/16th
inches in its internal diameter. It is split so that you can remove it from
the thin part
of the shaft, it won't clear the splines nor will the inner metal washer.
Both must be
removed by opening their split areas. Then the dust cap can be slid over the
splines to
remove it.>>

Yep.

<< No one sells these pieces.>>

Incorrect. I DO know ed@justbrits.com does sell the cork washer.

POC because the same cork washer IS used in a number of LBC applications!
Like Don M.'s MGB!

As long as the "cap" is not "cranked" down, just "snugged", the cork washer
will do it's job just fine.
