This discussion of sediment in the TR6 engine makes a case for the wet liner
4-cylinder engine! It is really easy to get all that gunk out of the
4-cylinder block with the cylinder liners on the bench!!

 Can't help with rest, but this one I have personal experience with.
Same thing happened to me even
after hot tanking. I used a scribe and a section of solid core copper
wire to carve out the fossilized
sediment and blew out the residue with my compressor before the block
was assembled. Worked
for me!
