Serial number is stamped on the left side of the case on the TR2 through the
3A.  On the 4 / 4A it is on the clutch lever boss again on the left side
(driver's side).  The 2 / 3A version has a prefix of TS while the 4 / 4A has
a CT prefix.  Find that number and someone on the list should even be able
to tell you what it was born with and its approximate build date.
