Paul,
Sounds like you have the right head on the right block.
It's basically a TR4A head (which was actually introduced mid-TR4 production) 
and probably has the triple springs on exhausts and double springs on 
intakes. 
You can go to 4A double springs overall if you get eight 4A spring caps.
The 4A double springs and caps might be an improvement..
Other 4A factory upgrades at that time was the 2 degree advanced cam, and the 
cast 4into2 (instead of 4into1) exhaust manifold - the improved exhaust 
manifold 'completed the match' with the earlier improved (mid-TR4) gas-flowed 
intake manifold.

The TR4 engine block says   #CT24256E this strange head has a casting # 
302137 (in two diff places), a serial #511695 stamped on top edge, and also an 
identical big "A" under the valve cover.
