Hi Jim,

I've heard many stories about ignition problems being caused by the Pertronix 
ignition module. Some claim that the module is voltage sensative and anything 
less than 10 volts at the input would cause sporatic operation. Try contacting 
Pertronix directly, they have a tech support group. Plead with them enough and 
you never know, maybe they'll send you a free replacement. :)

What I do know is that there are quite a few ex-Pertronix ignition users out 
there, some for exactly the same reasons you gave - they had sporatic operation 
that went away when switched back to points. I'm one of them, and found better 
response and more power using points.

If you're interested in going to another electronic igintion you might want to 
consider a Crane unit. I know of a few people in our club that uses them with 
no negative feedback, and no failures.
