Just curious, John, how often do you replace U-joints ?

AFAIK my Stag still has the factory U-joints in the drive/half shafts
(they're the non-replaceable variety). I did change the propshaft joints,
but the ones I took out might well have been factory. Not bad for 30 years
and some 140,000 miles.

And the prop/drive shaft joints in the TR3A lasted almost 20 years.

I've not found CV joints to be particularly long lasting in everyday
service, seems like their lifetime is only 100-150k miles. Of course that's
in FWD applications, so they might do better here, but the rubber boots
still need to be replaced fairly often. And at least for my cars, CV joint
boots cost as much as U-joints do (and are a bigger pain to install).
