Sure, could be hydraulic.  But I'd try adjusting the free play at the slave,
first.  4000 miles is a little soon, but they sometimes wear rapidly when first
installed.

If the problem is hydraulic, the fluid will spurt out when you crack open the
bleed valve on the slave.  If it just dribbles, then most likely it's not a
hydraulic problem.
