Problems gapping piston rings

Hi,
I tried to gap my piston rings using a small file and didn't have much luck.
I couldn't get the gap square at all, plus one of the #2 ring gaps is 0.020.
So, I think I am going to bite the bullet and buy one of those gaping tools,
order a new set of rings, and try again. Does anyone have any suggestions on
where and what manf. rings to buy? I have 87mm pistons.
